Barbara’s journey into Square Dancing began as a supportive gesture toward her mother, who had previously danced with Fred Lovelock and wished to return to dancing after several decades away. What started as a supportive act quickly became a passion. Barbara enjoyed it so much that she enrolled in not just one, but two beginner classes simultaneously—in different suburbs!

Her enthusiasm didn’t go unnoticed. Soon, both Callers recognized her dedication and vied for the title of her mentor, each claiming her as their star pupil.

With a background in sports administration, Barbara naturally transitioned into leadership roles. She joined the committee of the Victorian Square Dance Association (VSDA) as Membership Officer and played a significant role in organizing numerous VSDA Dinner Dances and serving on several State Convention Committees.

Her contributions extended to the national stage as well, serving in various roles on three National Convention Committees. In recognition of her dedication and impact on the Square Dancing community, Barbara was honored with Life Membership of the VSDA in 2007.

Beyond Square Dancing, Barbara is a qualified First Aid Officer, works part-time with special needs children, and devotes a great deal of time to her three great-grandchildren—more than she might care to admit!

Barbara brings a wealth of experience, energy, and heart to our convention committee and is a truly valued member of the team.
