Those who want to travel with their own vehicle or preferthe journey across Bass Strait take the Spirit of Tasmania ferry between Geelong and Devonport.

Taxis and ride-share services such as Uber are available in Hobart, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie.

The vast majority of flights come from Melbourne and Sydney, however, direct flights also arrive regularlyfrom Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide and Perth also flying direct to Tasmania.

The “Spirit Of Tasmania” is really 2 Roll-On-Roll-Off ferries that allows you to take
your Car and if you wish, also your caravan.
There are both Day and Night Sailings so you can select the one that suits you best.

These Ferries travel from the mainland in Victoria to Davenport in Tasmania
Previously the journey was from Melbourne to Davenport but now depart from Geelong to Davenport.
Geelong is about 70 kms from Melbourne.


New Ferries, “The Spirit Of Tasmania IV” and “The Spirit Of Tasmania V” are due in 2024
