The Board!

What is the Board, and what is its role in Australian National Square Dance Conventions?

The “Australian National Square Dance Conventions Board Inc” is the body responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency, and long‑term continuity of National Square Dance Conventions across Australia.
It provides oversight, guidance, and governance so each Convention is run to a recognised national standard while still allowing each host state or territory to bring its own character to the event.

What the Board does
The Board’s responsibilities include:

–  Receiving and assessing bids from groups wishing to host future Conventions.

–  Evaluating competing bids and selecting the most suitable host based on established criteria.

–  Licensing organising committees to run each Convention under agreed terms and expectations.

–  Maintaining and updating rules and guidelines to support consistent, high quality Convention operations.

–  Providing financial support in extreme circumstances, including underwriting a Convention if required.

–  Assuming organisational control of a Convention in rare and exceptional situations where it becomes necessary.
